At EAC, all students from PreK to 12th grade are taught a rich curriculum through the English Language. We follow the American program of study, which has been accredited since 1970. Students in grades 11 and 12 follow the IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma Program. The curriculum is fully transferable, allowing students to move to another American school worldwide with minimum academic disruption.
Beyond this, we provide our Brazilian students with a Brazilian program of study which is accredited by the Regional Government Office of Education in Brazil.
EAC is the only school in the Campinas region to offer three diplomas: the American Program Diploma, the International Baccalaureate Diploma, and the Brazilian Program Diploma. Upon graduation, students can choose to study in the best universities in Brazil or throughout the world.
Because of our size and philosophy, students are able to get to know their teachers very well and form solid relationships with them. The teaching team at EAC strives to motivate students to achieve high standards, while being supportive within a demanding academic environment.
EAC makes the 21st century tools of technology available to staff and students. A Wi-Fi campus, EAC hosts four computer labs (one of which is specifically designed for preschoolers), digital projectors in every room and portable interactive white boards. Each student, staff and family receive a Google apps account with an eac.com.br address. All grades and reports are electronic with students and parents having 24/7 access via an internet portal.
Students receive specific IT instruction through grade 5. In middle school, students participate in a Design Thinking class that uses technology and critical thinking to solve problems. Staff are assigned a laptop loaded with relevant school software and are trained and evaluated on their knowledge. Students in grades 6-12 participate in a BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) program to make use of the Wi-Fi possibilities in all their classes.
ELL (English Language Learners) and PLL (Portuguese Language Learners) support to non-native speakers
Our ELL program provides language support to newly-arrived Brazilian and international students at all levels. Teachers, who are highly trained in English Language acquisition, assist students in developing the academic skills and knowledge which will support student success in the regular classroom.
For our students who speak English and other languages, we provide instruction in Portuguese as a second language (PLL Program). This enhances the experience of living in Brazil as it broadens the ability of children to express themselves and understand the local culture to a greater extent.
